AWJ-Chicago: a little bit of sanity in a crazy industry

KellyMarthaKerryAlice5091Kringtext.jpgAWJ-Chicago supports women in journalism and promotes fair and accurate treatment of women by the media. The women journalists, and few men, who are members are among the most talented and influential journalists working in print, broadcasting, new media and academia on the planet. We are a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization. We provide members a network that we hope offers a little bit of sanity in a crazy industry.

Most of our members are from the Chicago area. They take advantage of our programs and local events

We're twittering. AWJ has a listserv and maintains a Facebook group and page. Members-only privileges include a membership directory and job listings in the Job Bank, as well as admission to the annual picnic and inclusion in the Books By Members listing, for members who are also authors. We award scholarships to the best and brightest Chicago-area women studying journalism. Consider joining.

Again this season AWJ-Chicago members are mentoring emerging female theatre critics in collaboration with the Goodman Theatre. Young Critics Circle includes high school juniors from the city and suburbs.
